Benjamin Richardson
Who is Ben Richardson? I am first and foremost a cinematographer. Cinematography is not my job — it's my life, and thats part of what I believe being a cinematographer means. Being a cinematographer also means being a photographer, and life long student and participant of the fine arts. I have always been a student of the fine arts — where I was always attempting to make my paintings look like real life. When I discovered photography, I discovered how to make real life look like a painting. With cinematography I found whole new dimensions in which to engage an audience. Along the way I also developed into a creative director. Becoming a creative director was a result of years of experience in a broad spectrum of visual arts, and being presented with challenging creative projects that required more than my personal expertise. For many of these projects I knew what the goals had to be, what they had to look like, and what they had to feel like. I knew how to communicate our message and make a connection with our audience. I learned how to find the right people, communicate the right message, and point other creative individuals in the directions necessary to accomplish those end goals. Those end goals for one — a very happy client.
What have I done? I've completed work for companies such as Eric Mower, Timberland, and Constellation Wines. My work has varied from 18 hour days in the middle of the desert — to green screen shoots in air condition studios. I've shot extreme sports, documentaries, music videos, short films, corporate films, industrial videos, news stories, live broadcast shows, weddings, and commercials. Over the years I have acquired a diverse portfolio and a wide array of experience for many shooting scenarios.
